These I photoshopped over the course of a few weeks. It was a lot of fun, i worked in photoshop cs4 on and off during college. it was a nice distraction from the long hours of Maya animation.
Even the text i photoshopped myself. i learned a great deal from doing this. it is alot of fun.
once I photoshopped one pose (from left to right) it became easier to do the next as i figured out some useful little techniques to get the work done more economically.
I like taking this stylized brightly coloured approach to my photoshop work. Mostly i like my characters to seem super heroic and larger than life. One thing that inspired me was i wanted to make Sophitia look tough and capable, and downplay the sexuality a lot. I think the sexy angle has been covered and then some by loads of people.

I was mostly inspired by Sophitia's original costume from the original Soul Blade, or soul edge depending where you live. I really liked the greek sandals that go all the way up her legs. I feel with the Soul Calibur franchise they pandered more and more to the teenage boy demographic, so Sophitia had to loose more and more armor. And I wanted to bring some of it back and, just make it look stylized I guess.
