Description
My 8th fan art piece to the classic 80's cartoon He-man and the Masters of the universe. From top left to bottom right is an action sequence featuring Teela captain of the royal guard, man-at-Arms her Father and Man -E-Faces.
This was a little idea based on something that happened in the show. See the villain beast-man can control various Beasts, man-E-Face has several different faces, one of them being a monster, which makes him susceptible to beastman's control. So in this sequence which I was inspired by a tag team grab i saw in Tekken tag tournament 2,
Teela just avoids getting hit, getting onto man E's back, and Man at arms shoulder charges into him, making him stumble back, as teela uses her gymnastic skill to pull him backward and launch him into a nearby wall, thereby stunning him.
Took me a little while and this is two sheets photoshopped together as a means of keeping the sequence complete.
Man-E-Faces is pretty much how he looked in the original show and his toy, Teela, while I really like the way they "De-aged" her for the 200x series, it made alot of sense. however I think the original Teela was far more attractive, so for this I went with her exactly how she looks in the classic (the face is not quite spot on, was concentrating more on getting the physical actions right). And finally man-At-Arms most looks like his classic form, though i do like his massive shoulder and armored redesign fro mthe 200x series, so its abit of this and that.
I did like capturing the render style of the original 80's show, but drawing the characters fighting in a style reminiscent of a kung fu movie, see the original He-man came out in an era where cartoon producers had alot of restrictions on the violence they could depict, being a kids show and appropriate for all ages and all. So its fun to imagine that show how it would look if the characters could really cut loose and even do tag team moves like something out of Dead or alive.
