One of the greatest Animators I have Ever seen passed away not afew days ago (Feb 3rd as of this writing) at age 33.
His Passing is going to leave a huge vacuum not only in the webspace but in my Heart too. Montys work was a huge inspiration, the level of production he could do solo was incredible and gave me the courage to want to perfect my level of understanding in animation.

If you don't know who he is, just type in "Dead Fantasy", its a crossover brawl between various Dead or alive and Final Fantasy characters.
here is one of his Best:…

God rest your Soul Monty, you impacted so many peoples lives in a positive way. I will continue to strive to be the very best I can be, thankyou so much for helping start me on this path, it will not be easy without you to look up to, but I am in good hands, it will all work out fine.

Brandon Jones, the voice of did his little farewell message recently :…

And Also i mean to watch his 3d anime series R.W.B.Y. which is the closest we have to a continuation of the amazing fight animation he showed in Dead fantasy only with his own original characters.

Farewell Monty, may your work continue to inspire for years to come.

You will always be remembered.

(UPDATE 5th Feb2015)
Rooster Teeth did their Tribute to Monty right here:…
  • Listening to: the cure
  • Reading: graphic novels mostly
  • Watching: bob chipman and other social commentary
  • Playing: fighting games
  • Eating: Expensive sandwhiches in london, yum
  • Drinking: Tea

BubblegumCrisis_Doodles_04_Feb2015 by AlexBaxtheDarkSide
my 4th Key pose fan art to the Cyberpunk anime Bubblegum Crisis. From top left to bottom right we have Sylia in her Knight Saber armor versus a Boomer, a rogue terminator like android. The boomer goes for a side kick, with a manga style cut away to his hidden booster rocket in his leg, making it harder to judge the timing of the kick. Sylia dodges it and takes the boomer down to ground, pinning him. I have been watching alot of Jojo's bizarre adventures lately, and wanted to add afew manga artist techniques, such as the eyes darkening over when the character knows something we don't, aswell as close ups of Sylias eyes as she realizes at the last second. The boomer opens up his chest cavity to reveal his hidden arsenal. Sylia jumps out hte way before he blasts away, Smelting his own legs off. And finally Sylia dives on top of him, pulling his head back so far it snaps off. Thats not usually all she wrote for a boomer, as they can function without a head for abit, but this key pose was already pretty ambitious so yah, enough of that for now.
This was a lot of fun, this turned out to be a very detail heavy and time consuming sequence. Still I will probably return to BGC with some more Boomer on Hardsuit action in future. Adding some manga techniques in there was to see if  I could do it, and I am happy with the results! if I can find the right action sequence I may well use them more often. till next time,
Enjoy! :)

What do you use to colour your doodles?

Hi Grimbot,
I mostly use sharpies you can buy in the shops. also the paper quality is a key thing that makes the colours pop so much. I buy the A4 sketchpads with good quality paper from an art shop called rymans.
i also use permant marker for large areas of colour,
copic ciaos
and lastly pro markers.
All blend to make some nice solid colour.
thanks for askin.
You can find them all on , should think its the same in other regions,
happy arting:)
(Very nice MOTU art BTW) :)
